Program Officer - Technology Transfer

International Network on Small Hydro Power (IN-SHP)



Co-sponsored by the UNDP and UNIDO as well as the government of China, the International Network on Small Hydro Power (IN-SHP) was created in 1994 and had its headquarters – the International Centre on Small Hydro Power (IC-SHP) – inaugurated in 1998. IC-SHP is located on the southwest bank of the beautiful West Lake, Hangzhou, China. Since the foundation in 1994, IC-SHP has developed a network of more than 330 members from over 70 countries all over the world. It has created a new pattern of international “triangular” technical and economic cooperation between developing countries, developed countries and international organisations to promote SHP development worldwide.

The key tasks of the Program Officer for Technology Transfer are to:
- Improve small hydropower development in China by communicating with small hydropower technology centers worldwide and promoting new technology.
- Facilitate technology transfer between China and IN-SHP member countries and use appropriate technology to carry out rural electrification projects in poor areas.
- Find international sponsors and secure funding for small hydropower cooperation between China and IN-SHP member countries.
- Assist with project management of bilateral / multilateral projects within China.
- Provide and develop proposal development inputs and grant reporting.

Required skills:
- Knowledge of renewable energy sector.
- Excellent communication skills to maintain relations with bilateral donors institutions.
- Ideally project management experience.
- Background knowledge of renewable energy sector in China desirable.
- Experience of working in a developing country organisation for at least one year, preferably in the field of environmental issues / social development and poverty issues/ international aid (preferably in NGOs or international organisations).
- Ability to plan, prioritise and deliver tasks on time.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
